Welcome to the Basics of Woodworking class, where you’ll be guided through four different methods of joinery! This class is perfect for anyone interested in learning a variety of joinery methods, regardless of their prior experience. You’ll even be working on a special project – a picture frame – so you can showcase your new skills with pride. To get started, you’ll need some basic tools such as eye/ear/lung protection, a sander or sandpaper, gloves, a paintbrush, a cloth or shop towel, a sponge brush, a miter, jig or handsaw, a drill with drill bits, clamps, and a pocket hole jig, dowel jig, or biscuit joiner.
Throughout the course, you’ll be introduced to joinery and explore four distinct joints. The class covers materials and supplies needed, cutting mitered edges for your picture frame, and dives deep into each joinery method: countersunk screws, pocket holes, dowels, and biscuits. To wrap things up, you’ll receive guidance on finishing techniques and have the opportunity to reflect on your experience. And if you’re eager for more beginner woodworking content, be sure to check out other classes on Skillshare, including setting up your woodshop, building a simple table, finishing with paint and stain, making a wall plaque, creating handmade Christmas gifts, and exploring other fine art classes.
